Workers’ Day and School–Preschool (ECEC) Collaboration

The “Conscious Parenting” team of “Usum” School continues its successful and effective meetings, and among them, this time the school’s pedagogical-psychological team visited the Armenian-American Children’s Center. This was perhaps the first meeting of the parenting team held in a preschool educational institution, where the parents of attending children have not yet made a definite choice of school. In other words, our team has long considered it its mission to educate more responsible and prepared parents, not only for our school but also for enriching the parent communities of various schools across the entire republic.

The Armenian-American Children’s Center that hosted us is a preschool educational institution operating in Yerevan, whose mission is to ensure children’s care, education, and development before the start of their school journey. At the center, children are typically engaged in play-based and creative activities, participating in classes aimed at developing language, thinking, and communication skills, as well as forming social skills through teamwork. Notably, by a pleasant coincidence, care and attentiveness toward children are also core principles in this center, just as they are at “Usum.” It is also worth noting that organizing such a meeting on International Workers’ Day symbolically reflects the idea that education and upbringing are continuous processes that require constant effort and dedication.

Referring to the effective meeting, it should be noted that the seminar turned into not only an informational session but also a deep platform for skills exchange, where key issues of modern parenting were discussed. These included healthy and trusting communication with children, setting appropriate boundaries, strengthening emotional bonds, overcoming fears and stubborn behavior, preparing for school and adaptation, as well as the principles of effective parent-teacher collaboration.

The meeting took place in an active, open, and engaging atmosphere. Parents not only listened to professional advice but also shared their own experiences, concerns, and successes, creating a unique environment of mutual trust and support.

The team members emphasize that for them, the sincerity and trust formed during such meetings hold special value. The educators of “Usum” are convinced that every conscious step in the parenting journey contributes to raising happier, more self-confident children who are in harmony with themselves.

In a conversation with usumschool.am, the team leader A. Manasyan noted that these initiatives will be ongoing, and that the school team will gladly continue to create an educational, supportive, and inspiring environment for every family. At the same time, our interlocutor expressed gratitude to the kindergarten administration for their cooperation and warm hospitality, as well as to all the parents for their active participation, interest, and meaningful discussions, expressing hope that this will become a key step toward strengthening school–preschool collaboration within the broader context of sectoral reforms.
