On February 28 and March 1, our school’s Student Council participated for the second time in the two-day spring “School of Economics” program organized by the Faculty of Economics and Management at YSU. Representing the Student Council at this educational and informative event were Student Council President Sara Martirosyan and Chair of the Disciplinary Committee Anna Voskanyan.
The program, designed for high school students, aimed to introduce participants to the main fields of economics and to support their professional orientation process. During the course, the specific features of finance, banking, business management, marketing, and international trade were presented, along with the characteristics of the profession and educational opportunities in Armenia and abroad in the fields of economics and interstate economic relations.
The two-day school was structured in a blended format. Participants attended thematic lectures that included both theoretical foundations and practical real-life examples. Through business games and interactive assignments, students worked in teams to develop solutions by analyzing situational problems faced by organizations, calculating potential risks, and evaluating the effectiveness of different decisions.
Teamwork was one of the key components of the program. Discussions provided an opportunity to formulate well-grounded viewpoints, defend proposed solutions, and compare different approaches. This format aimed to foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and collaboration.
According to Student Council President Sara Martirosyan, the course was highly beneficial from a career guidance perspective and provided a clearer understanding of the practical aspects of the field of economics. She also noted that the program created a valuable opportunity to explore potential cooperation with the student self-governance structures of the Mother University. As conveyed by the Student Council President, ideas were exchanged with B. Balayan, President of the Student Council of the Faculty of Economics and Management at YSU and a member of the YSU Academic Council, regarding possible future collaboration and experience sharing.
It should also be noted that in the near future, the possible formats and timelines of cooperation between the student and pupil councils will be clarified.
