There are dates that simply mark the passage of time, and there are dates that tell a story of dedication, perseverance, and achievement. Twenty-nine years ago, on this very day, Usum School was granted License No. 26 to provide general education by Order No. 125-M of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, marking the beginning of its confident journey in Armenia's educational landscape.
Over the past 29 years, Usum School has become far more than a place where knowledge is imparted. It has evolved into a vibrant educational community where values, critical thinking, creativity, and responsibility are cultivated. The school's history has been shaped by the achievements of thousands of students, the unwavering dedication of its teachers, the trust of parents, and the collective efforts of an entire school family.
Throughout these years, the school has continuously developed by combining the finest educational traditions with modern teaching approaches. Innovative instructional methods, project-based learning, advanced foreign language education, as well as cultural and athletic initiatives have become integral parts of the educational process.
For Usum School, education has never been confined to the classroom. Educational trips throughout Armenia, innovative programs, academic competitions and Olympiads, volunteer initiatives, cultural events, and community projects have all contributed to shaping students into broad-minded, proactive, and responsible citizens.
The school's educational excellence has also been demonstrated through numerous achievements in national competitions and educational initiatives. Among these, its outstanding performance in the National School Chess Championship holds a special place, with the school team earning prize-winning positions—from first to third place—on nine different occasions. These accomplishments reflect the school's commitment not only to academic excellence but also to fostering logical thinking, strategic decision-making, and teamwork.
Usum School has likewise been at the forefront of educational innovation. As early as 2021, before project-based learning became a mandatory component of Armenia's general education curriculum, the school successfully introduced it as an essential part of its educational program for all students in Grades 5–12. This initiative has enabled students to strengthen their research, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while making learning more practical and relevant.
Continuing its commitment to educational excellence, beginning with the 2023–2024 academic year, Usum School fully transitioned to implementing the educational process in accordance with Armenia's new national subject standards for general education. This step once again demonstrated the school's readiness to embrace educational reforms and provide every student with a modern, competitive, and high-quality education.
In conclusion, Usum School remains firmly committed to continuing its journey with the same sense of responsibility, the same unwavering principles, and the same belief that education is the most reliable foundation for the development and prosperity of society.
