Language is not merely a means of communication; it is a key that opens doors to new worlds, cultures, and opportunities to present one’s abilities on an international stage. It is with this very idea that thousands of students from different countries unite each year around the HIPPO English Language Olympiad. Today, HIPPO is considered one of the most prestigious and large-scale international English language competitions, offering students not only the chance to test their language proficiency, but also to gain international experience, make new friends, and build confidence in their own abilities.
This year, the students of “Usum” School participated in the global competition with even greater enthusiasm, responsibility, and an unprecedented number of participants, once again proving that dedication to knowledge and hard work are the true keys to success.
Back in March 19–22, 2026, the Armenian Preliminary Round of the Olympiad was held online. “Usum” School demonstrated remarkable participation, with around 242 students taking part in the competition. This impressive number reflects not only active engagement, but also the healthy educational environment, competitive spirit, and strong interest in foreign languages fostered within the school community.
Later, on April 24, the Armenian National Finals took place, where “Usum” School was represented by 32 students. The students achieved outstanding results, earning high recognition and the honor of representing Armenia in the next international stages of the competition. Particularly noteworthy is the achievement of sixth-grade student Milena Manukyan, who successfully passed the national stage and qualified for the World Finals, which will be held on October 12–15 in Assisi, Italy.
It is also important to highlight the achievements of primary school students Maria Grigoryan and Mikayel Sahakyan, whose excellent performances earned them the opportunity to represent both “Usum” School and Armenia these days in the Regional Qualifiers held in Venice. In a conversation with us, the school coordinator of the competition activities, A. Ghukasyan, noted that these achievements belong not only to the teachers whose students attained success (H. Ghukasyan, G. Harutyunyan, N. Stepanyan and N. Zakaryan), but to the entire school as well, and that the whole educational community follows their progress with great faith and enthusiasm.
We are also delighted to add that 22 students from “Usum” School successfully passed the national stage and earned the opportunity to participate in the Play-offs program. During the summer camp scheduled for August, they will once again have the chance to test their abilities, further develop their knowledge, and compete for additional places in the World Finals.
