Modern independent schools no longer limit their admissions procedures to assessing academic knowledge alone. Today, admissions represent a comprehensive evaluation process aimed at identifying a student's academic preparedness, thinking skills, communication abilities, and potential to adapt successfully to the educational environment. This approach enables schools to build a learning community in which every student is provided with opportunities that match their abilities and developmental needs.
For the third consecutive year, these principles have guided the admissions and vacancy-filling process at Usum School. During these days, the school is conducting its competition for filling available places in the Primary and Middle School divisions (Grades 2–9) for the 2026–2027 academic year.
More than one hundred applicants from various grade levels participated in the first stage of the admissions process, held on June 9–10. Approximately thirty specialists from the school's teaching, psychological, and administrative staff have been involved in organizing the process, administering assessments, evaluating results, and conducting interviews.
The knowledge assessment is carried out in four subjects: Armenian Language, Mathematics, Russian Language and English Language. One of the key features of the admissions process is that participation in the assessment does not automatically guarantee admission. Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong academic performance and showcase their skills and abilities throughout the selection process.
The first summary of the written assessment results is scheduled for June 12. Applicants and their parents will be notified of the results via email. Candidates who successfully advance to the next stage will participate in interviews designed to evaluate their communication skills, motivation, educational interests, and readiness to integrate into the school's learning environment.
The organizers of the admissions process are confident that, through a continually improving system, Usum School remains committed to its educational mission of fostering high academic standards, responsibility, continuous development, and a culture of care. The admissions process is an important component of this philosophy, aimed at discovering each student's potential and supporting their future educational success.
