Student Council Members at the Heights of Tsitsernakaberd

The long-established tradition was not broken this time either. On April 26, the Student Council participated in the annual 'Flower Gathering' event at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, organized with the support of the 'ARALEZ' the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values.

On April 24, the day of remembrance for the victims of the Armenian Genocide, the flowers laid at Tsitsernakaberd Memorial are collected every year. The stems are separated from the petals, with the stems being used to create compost, while the petals are repurposed to make handmade recycled paper and candles. The handmade paper is then used to create memorial notes, thank-you letters, and postcards.

This initiative combines the idea of giving "a second life" to the discarded flowers and the environmental mission of reusing them through recycling.

According to Narek Khachatryan, a member of the Student Council and the head of the Military Sports Commission, who coordinated the students' participation in this initiative, it holds a deeper meaning than just flower gathering. In Narek's opinion, involving students in such initiatives helps plant the roots of social and civic awareness from a childhood.

Arévik Kosyan, President of the Student Council, who participated in the flower gathering for the second time, noted in an interview with usumschool.am that the interest in the initiative has not only not decreased compared to last year, but has increased with more responsiblelity.
