The Little Prince is one of the most frequently staged literary works in the world. It has been presented in various countries as a theatrical performance, musical, ballet, opera, puppet theatre production, and even as a circus show. One of the latest and most large-scale productions in its history was staged under the title “The Little Prince” on Broadway in New York City in 2022. This French-American production brought together theatre, acrobatics, dance, and circus arts, incorporating aerial performances and modern visual technologies.
Outside the Old Continent, one of the most remarkable adaptations was the opera “The Little Prince,” staged in 2003 at Houston Grand Opera under the direction of composer Rachel Portman. It is considered one of the most renowned operatic interpretations of the work. Equally successful was the ballet “Le Petit Prince,” staged in 2012 at Théâtre du Capitole, which masterfully combined contemporary ballet with classical movement.
Another vivid example of the work’s universal appeal and worldwide recognition was the anime adaptation of “The Little Prince,” created in Tokyo in 2016. Combining European reality with Japanese artistic spirit, the production gained particular popularity among teenagers and young audiences, once again proving that this masterpiece transcends age boundaries.
It was therefore no coincidence that the conclusion of the school year’s thematic events was marked by a performance carrying such profound meaning. The school stage once again came alive with the adventures of the eternal traveler of the universe, presented by the youngest students of the school. This meaningful event simultaneously celebrated the students’ first major academic achievement — becoming literate readers. The performance transformed into a unique theatrical production where literature, music, art, and educational values were harmoniously intertwined.
Through the character of the Little Prince, the children introduced the audience to the journey of seeking knowledge, self-discovery, and believing in dreams. In various scenes, the hero encountered the inhabitants of different “planets” — artists, mathematicians, musicians, and other characters symbolizing the many dimensions of human spiritual and intellectual development.
Throughout the performance, the students emphasized the importance of art, mathematics, music, and reading in human life, highlighting that true knowledge shapes thought, imagination, and a system of values.
In one of the most significant parts of the performance, the Armenianized Little Prince and his friends proudly reflected on the importance of culture, language, and values, emphasizing that the absence of any of these elements leaves one’s worldview incomplete.
The event was enriched with songs, dances, dramatic performances, and recitations that created a warm and festive atmosphere. The students’ expressive acting, confident speech, and stage presence reflected their dedication, preparation, and enthusiasm.
The first graders’ performance became not only the summary of an important educational milestone, but also a beautiful message ahead of the school’s final reporting event — a reminder that this academic year was devoted to values, self-discovery, and universal human ideals.
