The start of the admission competitive phase at “Usum”

In the modern world, the admissions process in private and non-state schools has long been regarded not merely as a selection mechanism, but as a multifaceted system for identifying a candidate’s potential, assessing their academic preparedness, and evaluating their social maturity. In leading European secondary educational institutions, admissions include observations in a play-based environment, individual and group tasks, psychological assessments, and interviews. The aim is to understand not only the level of prior knowledge, but also the child’s thinking patterns, communication culture, and intrinsic motivation to learn. Over time, this approach has become an integral part of schools that offer high-quality education, as it ensures the formation of a healthy educational environment through the selection of students who align with the school’s philosophy and standards.

This very philosophy underpins our school’s admissions process, which this year is conducted according to a revised, multi-stage, professional, and child-centered framework. Around twenty experienced primary school teachers, psychologists, and ten administrative staff members are involved in the process. Their collaborative work makes it possible to evaluate each applicant holistically, combining pedagogical and psychological perspectives.

In conclusion, the second intake of the competitive admission stage is scheduled for March 14–15. All applicants who fully participate in both stages will also take part in the interview phase, which will be held from March 23–26. The interview provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the child, their interests, forms of self-expression, and communication culture. Upon completion of the interviews, a final ranking list will be compiled. Admission will be conducted in order of accumulated scores, ensuring transparency and fairness. From April to June, the process of signing contracts and forming class groups will take place, during which balanced and harmonious classes will be established.

We would also like to add that our admissions process is aimed not only at selecting children with the highest level of preparedness, but also at fostering a healthy, collaborative, and value-based educational environment. We believe that a well-organized admissions process is the first and most important step toward academic success, laying a strong foundation built on trust, respect, and progressive education.
