Media literacy is a set of skills aimed at understanding, analyzing, evaluating, and properly using the information in the media landscape. These skills help us stay informed about our surroundings, assess the credibility of media content, and distinguish between the real, trustworthy, or manipulated information.
By learning media literacy, students acquire essential skills that allow them to become active, responsible, and informed citizens. This is why media education in schools should not be limited to classroom hours but should include extracurricular activities such as field trips, meetings with specialists, and thematic events.
Media Literacy Week is an international movement held annually in the fall under the leadership of UNESCO, aiming to raise greater awareness of the importance of understanding, analyzing, and effectively using media.
For the fourth consecutive year, our school has actively participated in the Media Week organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia. Students have hosted prominent figures from the journalism field and visited leading companies in the telecommunications and media sector, including "Shant" TV, the youth-oriented "Arevik" radio station, Public Radio, "Radio Aurora," and others.
