Laboratory experiments are an important tool aimed at effective teaching, especially in scientific subjects, as they directly bring theoretical material into the realm of testing, experimentation, and proof. They provide students with the opportunity to practically apply theoretical knowledge, which strengthens their subject-specific skills and stimulates interest and wonder in science.
Laboratory classes are also of particular significance for teachers. In an interview with usumschool.am, Chemistry teacher and Deputy Director of Educational Affairs, Satenik Hakobyan, mentioned that the phrase "Next hour, we are going to the laboratory" evokes special excitement in any student, regardless of how well they perform in the framework of the "Chemistry".
Our interviewee also noted that practical lessons are eagerly anticipated not only by students but also by teachers, as they allow teachers to closely monitor students' work and provide individualized guidance, taking into account their strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, such work enables students to work independently, which is crucial for developing their autonomy.
“Laboratory work teaches students the art of asking the right questions, conducting experiments, and analyzing results. Although chemistry also requires precision and regulation, in order to discover new and accurate ideas, the student must go through a continuous process of inaccuracies,” concluded S.
