Barakendan is one of the ancient Armenian folk holidays, which has pagan roots but has skillfully merged with the Christian value system. The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates it at the end of February, just before the beginning of Great Lent.
Barakendan is also known as "the day of delay." It is accepted that on this day, everything should be done with patience and without haste, as a period of deprivation and hardship is ahead during Lent.
The celebration of Barakendan and the events dedicated to it have already become a tradition in our school. Its goal is to instill an understanding of Armenian folk holidays and their symbolism among children from a young age.
The name of the holiday, which is a combination of the words "bari" (good) and "kend" (life), fully reflects the atmosphere that prevailed today on the stage.
